In the installation IMAGINATOR, visitors can explore the subconscious of an “Artificial Intelligence”. Through an eye-tracking system, dynamically meandering and overlapping image compositions emerge wherever visitors look. These can be altered through the combination of various dream archetypes or supplemented with their own influences. This reveals an associative glimpse into the underlying training and image data of AI systems, which are based on the internet as the digital subconscious of our society.

The installation enables playful experimentation with real-time image generation through a machine-learning model, while simultaneously raising the question of how future developments in so-called Artificial Intelligence might affect our relationship between perception and reality. How does our relationship to our environment change when it is increasingly shaped by our subconscious attention?
