Meet the Indigenous of the Himalayas

Xenorama is currently in the studio of the sculpturist Parul Thacker, based in Mumbai, India. Parul specialises in capturing unprecedented realms between our perceptional grid in form of hypertangible plastic pieces. These serve as a foundation for projected portraits of indigenous people from the Himalayas and are set into motion by dropping a stone into a large basin. Tucked into ambiences of respective mountain ranges, audiovisual caustics and embers of resin, the encounter with distant souls is brought to life in individual fashion. One at a time.

To be exhibited and experienced in Calcutta, West Bengal.

Reinvigorating an abandoned well at “SEE Djerba” (SEE شوف)

We are very happy to be back in Tunisia and take part in the SEE Djerba festival. Thanks to all the wonderful people here and the great support!

So, let’s see what we can develop here in Houmt Zouk… the abandoned Roman well — the B’ir Ar-rumi بئر الرومي — appears to be an excellent site, we may have to clean up and polish this beauty first though…

And for some contemplative nostalgia, check out our project ATTYÉF AL’MEDINA اطياف المدينة we developed for last years Interference Festival in Tunis…

The B’ir Ar-rumi in Houmt Zouk

شوف reads šūf and is commonly used in Tunisian Arabic to express the action of »seeing«.

A virtual journey that physically happened

Here we present you a first glimpse into what we’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks. »Transkutan« is a journey through the numerous membranes of the skin — based entirely on analog footage we produced and collected. Thus, everything you see actually happened in real life, including multicoloured fluids, bubbles, magnetic formations, oscillating membranes, human skin and underwater phenomena.
The layout and scope of the organism is mapped to custom built stencils of the target façade: The city palace of Karlsruhe.

See you there!
